Jesse Gordon

PARTNER
Jesse concentrates his focus on construction law and litigation as well as commercial litigation. In his construction practice, Jesse litigates claims on behalf of owners, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers to help them collect what they have earned and defend their work.  He regularly handles cases in state and federal courts, at arbitration, in mediation and before government contracting boards.  Jesse has experience handling project issues and cases across a broad range of construction disciplines including: demolition, sitework, drywall, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, structural steel, pile installation and various finish trades.  On behalf of his clients, Jesse prosecutes and defends claims involving nonpayment, delay, acceleration, bond claims, enforcement and defense of mechanic’s liens, liquidated damages, disputed changes and loss of productivity.

Jesse also advises owners and contractors concerning the negotiation of contracts.  He has experience negotiating various contract types (fixed fee, cost plus, and design build).  Jesse also regularly advises on contracts based on AIA forms, the DBIA model contract, ConsensusDocs, and also drafts and negotiates custom contracts.

In addition to providing counsel during litigation and contract negotiations, Jesse also provides advice to owners and contractors during the construction process.  This real time advice is often the most beneficial and efficient advice because it helps avoid problems before they arise.

Jesse is the author of Virginia Construction Law and Practice, published by LexisNexis Virginia Construction Law and Practice
