Current Opportunities:

​​Corporate/Transactional Attorney (Hampton Roads)

Position Overview
Reaves GovCon seeks a Corporate/Transactional Attorney to join its growing and thriving Corporate & Business Transactions team in our main Chesapeake office. The successful candidate will have a strong background in corporate law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity transactions, and other complex business transactions. No book of business required. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or assist in leading with the negotiation, structuring, and execution of M&A transactions, including asset purchases, stock/share purchases, and mergers. Provide legal counsel on due diligence, drafting transaction documents, and handling regulatory filings.
  • Counsel clients on corporate governance matters, including board and shareholder issues, executive compensation, and compliance with corporate laws.
  •  Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, such as joint ventures, licensing agreements, and shareholder agreements.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance, business law, and commercial contracts.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate law, with a focus on M&A, private equity, securities, or related transactions. Experience in government contracting, intellectual property, and international trade is a plus; 
  • Significant experience advising on corporate transactions and complex negotiations. Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Government Contracts Associate

Position Overview
Reaves GovCon is currently seeking an attorney admitted to practice in Virginia (or who is seeking admission after law school graduation) who exercises independent judgment and discretion to perform substantive legal functions in client matters. The ideal candidate maintains positive contact with clients and observes confidentiality in client matters. They may be assigned to work independently or under the supervision of other attorneys employed by the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build a strong background in bid protests, FAR compliance, teaming agreements and subcontracts, the False Claims Act, and investigations related to federal procurement law.
  • Familiarity with federal small business programs, such as the 8(a), SDVOSB, WOSB, and HUBZone programs.
  • Specific government contracting experienced desired, but not required.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.

Construction Litigation Associate

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia

Position Overview

Reaves GovCon Group seeks a dynamic and motivated Associate Attorney to join our legal team specializing in construction litigation.  Reaves GovCon is a boutique form specializing in Government Contracts and Construction. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in construction-related disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation in proceedings before Virginia state courts and federal courts.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and response and other legal documents.
  • Provide counsel on construction law matters, including contract negotiation and compliance.
  • Participate in pretrial and trial proceedings in General District Courts and Circuit Courts around the Commonwealth of
  • Virginia, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. 
  • Work collaboratively with senior attorneys to develop case strategies.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar.
  • 2-4 years of experience in litigation or as a judicial law clerk (Preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative environment and interfacing with clients.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms such as Relativity and Lexbe (Preferred).

Litigation Paralegal

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia

Position Overview

Reaves GovCon Group seeks a dynamic and motivated Associate Attorney to join our legal team specializing in construction litigation.  Reaves GovCon is a boutique form specializing in Government Contracts and Construction. 

The Litigation Paralegal plays a vital role in supporting the attorneys and legal team throughout the litigation process. Primary responsibilities will include drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, assisting with discovery document production and organization, calendaring deadlines, assisting in hearing and trial preparation, and maintaining numerous case files. The candidate must have strong attention to detail and an ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.

This is an in-person position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys in the preparation of pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Manage case files and ensure that all documents are filed in accordance with Virginia state and federal rules, procedures and deadlines.
  • Coordinate discovery processes, including the collection, review, and organization of documents.
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorneys.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Prepare exhibits, witness lists, and other materials for trial.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing trial notebooks and preparing evidence.
  • E-file documents with courts and maintain electronic and physical case files.
  • Monitor court deadlines and filings.
  • Manage and track case progress, ensuring timely resolution.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-4 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw).
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms such as Relativity and Lexbe (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with Virginia court procedures and e-filing systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative environment and interfacing with clients.
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset.
